Our clients engaged IM Design House to create a bedroom and adjoining ensuite that would feel personal to its young occupant while remaining considered, functional and adaptable for the years ahead.

Located within an early-1900s Outremont upper duplex, the rooms required a careful balance between youthful character and the architectural language of the home. Rather than designing around a short-lived theme, we developed a warm, transitional foundation that could evolve naturally as its occupant grows.

The bedroom was planned to support rest, study, storage and everyday routines without making the space feel crowded. A restrained palette, layered textiles, warm wood and thoughtfully selected furnishings introduce personality while maintaining a calm and cohesive atmosphere.

In the adjoining ensuite, the material and lighting selections continue the bedroom’s visual language while responding to the practical needs of daily use. Each element was chosen to feel connected to the original home rather than newly imposed upon it.

The result is a comfortable, enduring suite that feels appropriate today while leaving room for its occupant, belongings and personal style to change over time.
